The event took place on January 20th in the Austrian city of Kitzbühel. In the framework of the Hahnenkamm Race, WWP also organized the KitzCharityTrophy, a slalom with charity purposes and one of the most outstanding seasonal social parties in Austria.
The Hahnenkamm Race, which is organized annually since 1931, attracts so many people that Kitzbühel multiplies by ten its population during the event. To accommodate this year’s 80,000 visitors, the organization has provided free parking facilities in the nearby towns of Kirbgerg and Oberndof, from where attendees were traveling by shuttle to the venue. In addition, all international trains stopped at Kitzbühel station, just five minutes from the slopes.
Nine large video screens were installed, from which the various tests were retransmitted and served as a platform for content from sponsors such as Audi, Mastercard or Generali among others. Another point of attraction was the city center, thanks to a huge fan zone lined with other video screens and live performances.
The enormity of this sporting event can be seen just looking at its numbers: over 1,500 people were involved in management and organization directly and indirectly; 700 journalists from 30 countries covered the championship in a press room created with sets for 45 televisions and 20 radios that broadcast from the same tracks to USA, Canada and Japan.
For the occasion, WWP has been organizing the KitzCharityTrophy for 20 years, a slalom ski challenge in which known personalities from the business, cultural and sporting worlds are divided into teams to get off the slopes of Kitzbühel.
The event ended on the night of January 21st at the KitzRaceClub, which was transformed to welcome the guests of the KitzParty, the Hahnenkamm’s gala evening for partners and members of the competition.
